WAKE UP EARLIER

As difficult as it sounds, start waking up earlier than you typically would and you will notice you feel a lot better. It may take time to get into this routine and for your body to adjust to your new wake up time, but it is so worth it and will change your life. Wake up early enough to allow time for you to get done everything you want to accomplish in the morning, while getting enough rest. Find the time and amount of sleep that works best for you to do this and start there. For me, I learned that waking up at 5:00am or 5:30am gives me enough time to accomplish my goals, while getting enough sleep. Try out different times and figure out what works best for you and your life!

It’s the best feeling to wake up early enough that you have time to do something for yourself, your mental health, and your physical health before even starting your work day. Allow enough time for you to have a slower morning without rushing, take time to do your hobbies, plan your work day, and take care of your mental and physical health. You will feel so much better about yourself, more organized, and more content in life.

READ INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES

Start your morning by reading inspirational quotes to motivate you and put you in the right mindset when starting your day. It sounds simple but motivational quotes can really help inspire you and improve your life. Check out my Pinterest board with inspiring quotes and start your own board to save any quotes that motivate you. If you prefer to not be on your phone in the morning, there are so many books with motivational quotes or daily quote calendars that would work great. This is an easy way to start your morning routine as you can even look through these while you are still slowly waking up. This will really help if you struggle to find motivation to get up and get going for the day.

GET SOME SORT OF MOVEMENT IN

Make sure you get some physical movement in when starting your day. This step in my morning routine completely changed my life. If you don’t have time to workout in the morning, simply go for a walk outside or on the treadmill, do some stretches, get any sort of movement in. Getting some sort of physical activity in before starting your work day will make you feel accomplished, motivated, and inspired. Start adding physical movement or a workout into your morning routine and it will become a daily habit that will change your life.

Working on your physical health will significantly improve your mental health in return. This is such an important step in your morning routine that will change all aspects of your life. You will notice you have more energy and you will feel more clear throughout the day. My biggest tip with this part of your morning routine would be to be mindful while you are doing your exercise. Pay attention to what you are doing and how you physically feel, don’t just go through the motions. For example, if you are on the treadmill, pay attention to your feet hitting the track, your heartbeat, and your breathing. Being mindful during your workout will make you feel more connected to yourself and will allow your mind to feel more clear. This will really connect you to the present moment and improve your physical and mental health.

SET YOUR GOALS

Get out your notes app or your physical notebook; whichever works best for you and write out a list of your goals for the day or the week. This is an important step of your morning routine if you want to change your life. Seeing your goals written out and planning how you will achieve them is the first step to improving your life. Keep your goals obtainable and realistic. Be sure to look back at your goal list throughout the day to remind yourself of what you need to be doing to accomplish them.

MAKE YOUR TO DO LIST FOR THE DAY

Being organized and writing out the tasks you need to get done during the day is an essential part of your morning routine. You will notice that you will get a lot more done if you have to do lists and can refer back to them to make sure you are completing everything. To do lists will make you feel more motivated to complete your tasks as it gives you a sense of accomplishment to be able to check tasks off as you complete them.

Try out different apps for planning your day and organizing your checklists, there are so many! If you want an aesthetically pleasing app planner, with to-do lists, I highly reccommend “Planbella”. Planbella has a specific tab for tasks that you can easily use for your daily to do lists and it looks beautiful as a widget on your phone screen. If you prefer to write out your to do lists, there are tons on Amazon, this one is gorgeous and would work perfect.

PREPARE YOUR MEALS FOR THE Day

If you really want to change your life and be more productive, meal planning is the way to go! Take some time during your morning to pack your breakfast, lunch, snacks, and plan your dinner. This will take away any stress during the day of what you are going to eat all day and after work. This is a great addition to your morning routine. Use a meal planner on your phone or from Amazon and easily plan out your meals for the day.

GET SOME FRESH AIR

Breathe in some fresh air! Take in all the scents and sounds of outside and try to clear your mind. It’s important to take at least a few minutes of your morning routine to get some fresh air. Most of us spend our days inside and on computers, so it’s very beneficial to take time outside before getting into our work days. I love taking my dog for a quick walk or to sniff around outside while I breathe in the fresh air. Bring your morning coffee outside and slowly sip it while you’re outside. Try to be mindful while doing this and focus on all your senses and surroundings. It’s so good for us to connect with our surroundings, especially as part of your morning routine.

HYDRATE!

Don’t wait until half way through your day to start drinking water. Add this into your morning routine; stay hydrated! If you have coffee every morning, try to start with a glass of water before your coffee to make sure you are hydrating too. Drinking water is so important for our mental clarity and our physical energy. I promise you will notice a difference in your life if you include drinking water to your morning routine. If it will help you stay on track, find a water bottle you like that has time markers so you remember to start drinking water and continue throughout the day.

DO A QUICK 5 MINUTE TIDY UP

Spend 5 minutes of your morning routine doing a quick tidy up around your house or work area. Pick up and put away any items you are done using, wipe down the table, hang up your clothes. You don’t need to deep clean and make it spotless but simple tidy up a few things that are noticeable and distracting to you. If you work from home this will allow you to relax and focus easier. If you work out of the house, this will allow you to know you are coming home to a tidier house and it won’t be on your mind all day long. Add this as a simple step to your morning routine and you will notice a different in your life.

Take time for ONE OF YOUR HOBBIES

Make it a strong point in your morning routine to take time for one of your hobbies. Even if you only have 10 minutes to spend on it, take those 10 minutes for your hobby. Whether it’s blogging, reading, knitting, painting, yoga; spend a few minutes on yourself. Hobbies make us feel passionate and excited about life. If you spend some time doing one of your hobbies before even starting your work day, you will feel more like yourself and more positive.

TAKE YOUR TIME GETTING READY

Starting your day in a rush can almost guarantee you won’t have the best day. That will set you up for feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. Allow yourself enough time to slowly get ready, play your music, and feel good about yourself when you are done. If doing your hair routine or skincare routine is important to you, be sure to find time to incorporate that into your morning routine. You will feel better about yourself and you will have a better day.
